German American

Tricentennial Foundation

Welcome to the website of the Tricentennial Foundation, who brought you the National German-American Day. Together with President Ronald Reagan, we worked on passing the legislation to establish this day in the US. In memory of October 6, 1683, the day the first German Settlers came to America, the National German-American Day is being celebrated every October 6. The year 2017 marks the 30th Anniversary of the first Presidential proclamation of the National German-American Day by Ronald Reagan in 1987. More than 300 years have gone by since the first German settlers came from Krefeld in the Rhineland. We are celebrating German-American Heritage.
